KERANS — Another action packed season of youth mini mod racing has come to an end following last Saturday’s Fall Festival 50 finale, as Adley Green and Brad Currence take home overall points championships in their respective divisions. Both drivers won the championship in their divisions after capping the season off with featured race wins.

In the younger mini mod division, Green showed some major grit and championship DNA as she held off Nelson Herron in both the featured race and the overall points race. These two talented young drivers entered this week locked neck-and-neck atop the younger mini mod division points standings. Halfway through the season, it looked as if Herron had already sealed the division’s overall points championship, however after Green reeled off seven straight victories leading up to last Saturday, she had drawn within striking distance of his points lead. Green won the first and only heat, holding off Herron who took runner-up honors, setting up a winner-take all situation in the feature race. Green again fended off Herron and picked up her eighth straight featured race win and her fifteenth overall win of the season to seal the championship. Green’s clutch performance down the stretch of the season earned her not only the overall points championships, but recognition from her peers as this year’s Driver of the Year.

In the older mini mod division, Brad Currence entered this week with a sizable lead in the points race, yet this didn’t stop him from laying it all on the line Saturday night. Currence won the first heat, holding off tough challenges from the likes of Kris Wyatt and Gunner Binns to get his night started off on a high note. Declan Carpenter took the win in the second heat beating out Blake Tasker and Kolby Sullivan for the victory. After sitting out the second heat, Currence picked right back up where he left off, beating out Carpenter in the featured race to seal the points championship in style.
