BUCKHANNON — Buckhannon was chock-full of all things Green Bean over the weekend. The 4th Annual Green Bean Stroll kicked off at 9 a.m. on Saturday at the River Walk Trail with a goal of promoting healthy lifestyles.
The stroll was a one-mile course that could be tackled by any means other than motorized. The registration fee was a bag of fresh snapped green beans, canned green beans, or a $5 fee. Participants and community members could order shirts through the Chamber of Commerce or the Visitor’s Center on Main Street.
Over 30 walkers were registered and participated for the good cause. All of the green beans gathered were taken to the Parish House to be given out as donations and used in meals prepared for the public. A huge thank you goes out to Dr. Joseph Reed for his organization and efforts of this project to promote healthy eating and give back to the community.
