Golf Bucs square off against partial Robert C. Byrd squad


CLARKSBURG – The Buckhannon-Upshur golf Buccaneers ventured to the Sunny Croft Golf Course in what amounted to an exhibition for the Bucs as they faced a partial three-player team in Robert C. Byrd.

“We won by default,” joked Buckhannon-Upshur head coach Jason Westfall.

Isaac Lane took runner-up honors at the top B-U golfer shooting a 44.

Evan Coffman fired a 46, Tucker Hurst a 47, Landon Hitt a 49, Brady Hurst a 50 and Brayden Hamner a 55.

Robert C. Byrd’s Tyler Stemple earned low medalist honors with a 39 while Alex Hawkins tied Lane for runner-up honors with a 44.

Tanner Houge shot a 46.

The Bucs were slated to play at Pines Country Club Wednesday and Barbour County Club Thursday.

They will be back home Monday at the Buckhannon Country Club for a 4 p.m. match and then visit Tygart Lake Golf Course on Tuesday.
