PHILIPPI – The Buckhannon-Upshur golf Buccaneers had their final tune-up last Friday before the Big 10 Conference championships on Monday with a dual outing with the Philip Barbour Colts at the Barbour County Country Club.
Evan Coffman had a tremendous outing shooting a 36 which earned him low medalist honors during the dual.
He was seven strokes better than a trio of teammates who all garnered runner-up honors.
B-U’s Landon Hitt, Brady Hurst and Tucker Hurst all fired 43s to finish in a tie for second place.
Brayden Hamer shot a 51 for the Bucs while Bryson Bastida shot a 60, Jaden Westfall a 61 and Tucker Bur a 63.
The Bucs easily won the match by a 165-195 score.
“It was a good day of golf and Coffman played well shooting one over,” remarked Buckhannon-Upshur head coach Jason Westfall. “It was good to get everyone some experience and I’m proud of how the roster competed.”
Philip Barbour was led by Sara Simon with a 46 and Brayden Cole who shot a 47.
The action left the Bucs with a 29-4 record overall and a 24-2 mark in Big 10 Conference action.
The Bucs then finished third in the Big 10 Conference championships Monday at Bel Meadow (See Saturday’s edition for the full story).
The Bucs are scheduled to go to Wheeling today and play at the Jones Golf Course at Oglebay.
They will compete in the regional championships this Monday at the Williams Country Club in Weirton.
