Golf Buccaneers defeat Hawks in dual outing

TENNERTON – Evan Coffman remained red-hot on the golf course as he took low medalist honors again on Monday for the Buckhannon-Upshur Buccaneers in a dual outing with University.

Coffman took low medalist honors by six strokes as he shot a 36 at the Buckhannon Country Club.

“Evan played lights out and has laser focus at this point,” remarked Buckhannon-Upshur head coach Jason Westfall.

Tucker Hurst finished runner-up for B-U with a 42 while Isaac Lane and Landon Hitt both fired 43s to finish in a tie for third place.

Zach Harman was University’s top golfer placing fourth with a 44 while Aubrey Estel and Landon Spiker both shot 45s for the Hawks.

Rounding out the B-U line-up was Easton Perkins in sixth with a 46 and Brayden Hamer shooting a 52.

The Bucs downed the Hawks by a 164-180 score.

“It was good to see our low scores return,” noted Westfall.

The Bucs were slated to visit Oglebay Park on Tuesday and Bridgeport on Wednesday.

They will be back in action Friday hosting Elkins at the Buckhannon Country Club at 4 p.m.
