TENNERTON – Buckhannon-Upshur senior defender Audrey Gaudet competed in the 2018 WVHSSCA All-Star Girls’ North-South Game Sunday afternoon at Freal “Red’ Crites Memorial Stadium.

Gaudet and her North Bear teammates fell to the South Cardinals by a 1-0 score.

Oak Hill’s Courtney Smith had the lone goal of the game scoring from the right side with a shot to the far post late in the second quarter of the game.

Ironically enough, the South scored their lone goal right after Gaudet was substituted out of the game from her center defensive position.

The game, broken down into four 20-minute quarters, featured the best players from each classification from Region I and II making up the North with the top players in each class in the state from Region III and IV making up the South squad.

“It was quite the honor to be selected to play in the North-South game,” remarked Gaudet.

Joining Gaudet on the North side was Bridgeport’s Olivia Arbogast, Kirstin George and Rory Marple, University’s Stephanie Chmiel, Corinee Grabow and Ari Christiansen, Washington’s Bailey Miller and Adie Amore, Elkins’ Kiley Calain, Robert C. Byrd’s Lura Simons, Prestons Sydney Davis, Wheeling Park’s Deanna Crumm, Grafton’s Morgan Griffith and Jefferson’s Annabelle Astrade.

The South’s roster was made up of George Washington’s Katy Darnell and Destiny Jackson, Cabell Midland’s Gabby Hammers and Harper True, Hurricane’s Brooke Lucas and Ann Marie Ramey, Ripley’s Mackenzie Gillispie and Taylor Kennedy, Oak Hill’s Courtney Smith and Georgia White, Winfield’s Savannah Hoff and Grace Cole, Greenbrier East’s Abbie Bartenslager, Midland Trail’s Laurel Johnson, St. Joseph’s McKenzie Moran, Nitro’s Elora Shinn, Capital’s Lizzie Strazzula, Parkersburg South’s Kathryn Bowers and Charleston Catholic’s Mullen Mills.

Following the game, the boys’ all-stars played.

Buckhannon-Upshur did not have a representative during the boys’ game, which was won by the South by a 3-0 score.
