Frosh Bucs in control from start to finish in 42-24 win over Lewis County


WESTON – The Buckhannon-Upshur Buccaneer freshmen controlled play from start to finish in a 42-24 victory over the Lewis County Minutemen Wednesday evening.

The Bucs won all four quarters as they improved their record to 4-4 on the season.

With five different players scoring, the Bucs won the first quarter by a 13-6 margin as Nathaniel Ringer and Jaden Westfall each put in four points, Blake Ruynon and Malaki Williams two each and Ian Strader one.

With Williams scoring five points and Westfall and Ringer two each, the Bucs won the second quarter by a 9-4 count and led at the half by a 12, at 22-10.

Williams got hot in the third quarter with eight points while Strader put in three and Westfall two as the Bucs won the third quarter by a 13-8 margin and led going into the final quarter, 35-18.

The Bucs closed out the Minutemen winning the final quarter, 7-6, as Westfall, Jeremy Streets, and Ringer each put in two points while Williams added a free throw.

Williams led the Bucs with 16 points while Westfall added 10.

Isaac Smith paced Lewis County with 10 points.

The Bucs were slated to close out their regular season last night with Elkins.
