Freshmen Bucs tumble in overtime to Philip Barbour, 49-45

PHILIPPI – The Buckhannon-Upshur freshmen Buccaneers were nipped by in overtime by a 49-45 decision against the Philip Barbour Colts Friday evening.

The loss dropped the Bucs to 4-4 on the season.

The Bucs built a 16-12 lead after one quarter with Gage Raschella and Mark Hurst each putting in seven points and Shawn Blandino adding two.

The Bucs lost the second quarter by a 14-6 margin with Ryan Snyder putting in four points and Josh Nesbitt two.

The Bucs trailed at the intermission by a 26-22 score.

Buckhannon-Upshur came back to win the third quarter by a 14-9 margin.

Raschella and Zach Calef-Boring each had five points while Keyton Lenier had a three and Blandino a free throw during the quarter as the game was tied at 36-36 after three 

quarters of action.

Philip Barbour and B-U battled to a 6-6 deadlock in the fourth quarter with Blandino putting in four points and Hurst putting in two free throws.

The overtime period went to Philip Barbour by a 7-3margin as the only B-U scoring belonged to Hurst who nailed a three-pointer.

Raschella and Hurst each had 12 points to lead the Bucs.

Alfred Isch paced Philip Barbour with 20 points.

The Bucs will be back in action Wednesday when they visit Bridgeport at 4:30 p.m.
