Franklin Richard “Rick” Dilley, 75, of Buckhannon, passed away on Wednesday, March 31, 2021, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon.
He was born in Buckhannon on April 29, 1945, a son of the late Everett Franklin Dilley and Imogene Leanora Lee Dilley Wood. In addition to his parents, Rick was preceded in death by one brother, Gary Andrew Dilley.
On June 13, 1998, Rick married Wilma Lee Murphy. Together they have shared over 22 wonderful years of marriage.
Forever cherishing their memories of Rick are his wife, Wilma Dilley of Buckhannon; two children: Richard James Dilley and wife, Jennifer, of Wheeling, and Sharon Frymier of Buckhannon; one step-child, David Dwayne Harper of Buckhannon; three grandchildren: Amber Dilley, Elaina Cunningham, and Lucas Cunningham; two step-grandchildren: Janet Harper and David “DJ” Harper; one step-great-grandchild, Xavier Harper; two siblings: Sis James and husband, Rick, of Weston, and Sharon Halterman and husband, Ron, of Lewis County; and several nieces and nephews.
Rick was a United States Navy Veteran and a member of the American Legion. He spent many years as a highway construction worker where he began as a heavy equipment mechanic but decided he would prefer to operate them. As a Union worker, Rick was sent to many locations across the state of West Virginia to construct and repair highways. His favorite company to work for was Vecellio & Grogan based in Beckley. Rick was musically inclined and enjoyed country music on his guitar, banjo, and fiddle.
Rick’s request for Cremation has been honored and a Private Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.
