Francis O. Posey

JANE LEW — Francis O. Posey, 77, of Wolfpen Run Road Weston, went home to be with the Lord at 2:12 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2017 in the comfort of his home with loving family by his side.

He was born in Orlando on April 25, 1939, a son of the late James Oliver Posey and Lula Mabel Blake Posey.

Francis is survived by his loving wife, Cammie Mae Duncan Posey, who loved him beyond words and will miss him beyond measure, after 56 years of marriage.

He is also survived by six children: Sue Lowther and husband, Dan, of Mullens, Dorothy Riddle and husband, Richard, of Weston, Kay Pumphrey and husband, Charles, of Lincolnton, N.C., Annie Posey and Kirstie, of Nathalie, Va., Bob Posey and wife, Tammy, of Weston, and Tom Posey and wife, Lisa, of Roanoke; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three siblings: Deborah Darlene Arce and husband Carlos, of Lincolnton, N.C., Carolyn Jean Posey, of Weston, and Bernard Posey and wife, Debbie, of Jane Lew; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four siblings: Mary Jean Radcliff, Martha Rowan, Beatrice Posey  and Edward Posey.

Francis worked many years for Jack Linger and for the Weston State Hospital Dairy Farm, and mowing right-of-ways for Junior Marks all over West Virginia, Kentucky, Ohio and Pennsylvania. 

He later retired from the Weston City Street Department with several years of service. He was a member of the Haleville Union Mission Church where he loved singing and serving the Lord. He loved sports of all kinds. He played softball for many years and loved to golf, fish and hunt. His children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the joy of his life. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him and he now rests in the hands of Christ His Lord.

Friends and family gathered at the Pat Boyle Funeral Home and Cremation Service at 144 Hackers Creek Rd. in Jane Lew from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2017 and 10-11 a.m. on Wednesday. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. from the Pat Boyle Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mike Riffle and Reverend William JB Gum  officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Jane Lew.
