Four Buckhannon Academy teachers recognized as Upshur Stars

TENNERTON — Four Upshur County educators were recognized during the Board of Education meeting on Tuesday evening, July 26 at the Buckhannon-Upshur High School auditorium.

During the meeting, Upshur County Schools Superintendent Dr. Sara Lewis-Stankus invited Buckhannon Academy Elementary School Principal Susanne Britton to introduce and recognize the Upshur Stars.

All the teachers who were recognized were employees of Buckhannon Academy Elementary School: First Grade Teacher Alicia Egress, Third Grade Teacher Amanda Tenney, First Grade Teacher and therapy dog Foster’s handler Brittany Squires and Fourth Grade Teacher Brittany Bennett.

The teachers were recognized for their efforts and specific attention in teaching and helping the children in their classrooms. Tenney was specifically recognized for her outstanding capability of caring and helping her students calm down in frustrating situations.

“I am so happy an honored to recognize these amazing teachers,” said Britton.
