TENNERTON — Head Coach Shawn Grubb’s Buckhannon-Upshur PeeWee Football team has truly been a sight to behold this season. What this special group of young boys has accomplished this season can only be summed up by one word, “magic.”

The PeeWee Buccaneers have put together a season that will go down in the history books.

Coach Grubb’s PeeWee Buccaneers, consisting of kids aged 8- years-old to 10-years-old, adopted a blue-collar, defensive-minded approach early on this fall and it has fueled them all the way to the brink of a championship. The PeeWee Buccaneers physical approach applies to both sides of the ball, as a deep backfield power an explosive rushing attack, while a hard-nosed defense often keeps teams from even breaking into scoring territory.

Under the guidance of coach Grubb and his staff consisting of assistants Aaron Grubb, Scott Baron, Cody Clem, Josh Moore, Bub Small, Dustin Tenney, Sloan Baisden and Eric Davis, the PeeWee Buccaneers haven’t even let an opposing team score in a game all season, outscoring their opponents 258-0 this year.

The undefeated PeeWee Buccaneers once again emerged unscathed in their regular season finale, trouncing Summerville 45-0 on Sunday, October 23 to cap off a historically great, regular season. The only step left is to now finish the job with a championship. Coach Grubb and his staff will find themselves in great positioning after earning the top-seed for the upcoming playoffs.

The PeeWee Buccaneers will compete in their first round of playoffs on Saturday, October 29 at 5 p.m. at Buckhannon-Upshur High School. Come out and support this amazing group of kids!
