Five Lady Buc lacrosse players earn All-State honors; Greene and Lewellyn named to First Team

TENNERTON – The Buckhannon-Upshur Lady Buc lacrosse team was well-represented on the 2019 on the West Virginia Scholastic Lacrosse Association (WVSLA) High School All-State teams.

The Lady Bucs had five players on the All-State Team.

Kennedi Lewellyn Miranda Greene were named to the First Team while Haylee Rice was selected to the Second Team and Mya Tenney and Emileigh Ryan were named to the Honorable Mention Squad.

Lewellyn, a senior, was named First Team on defense.

She is a repeat selection to the team earning First Team honors last season.

She was first in the state in ground balls with 78 averaging five per game.

Greene, a freshman, was honored on the team as an attacker.

She led the state in goals with 79 and was second in the state in points with 84.

She averaged five goals and five assists per game.

She was also ninth in the state in ground balls with 50.

Rice, a junior, was voted as a Second Team midfielder.

She was 11th in the state in goals with 35 and fifth in the state in draws with 90 in 144 attempts.

Tenney, a senior, was selected for Honorable Mention defense.

She was 10th in the state in ground balls with 49.

Ryan, a sophomore, was selected as a Honorable Mention midfielder.

She was 18th in the state in goals with 28 and was 19th in the state in ground balls with 40.

All five girls were selected to play in the 2019 WVSLA All-Star North-South game.
