BUCKHANNON — The City of Buckhannon and volunteers from the Create Buckhannon organization partnered to host Buckhannon’s Independence Day celebration Friday evening.
Create Buckhannon proved to be successful in the planning of another amazing Festival Fridays event. The festival brought a little extra liveliness last week, as vendors, bounce houses, bands and friends filled the Jawbone Park with laughter and happiness.
Festival Fridays featured games and activities for all ages, performances by Stockert Youth & Community Center’s Drill Team, the Elite Twirlers, and the musical group Stonestreet, all presented by the volunteers of Create Buckhannon. The event did have a small hiccup in the form of a sudden storm, but once the rain had settled and all looked clear, some vendors remained to allow guests time to browse.
The evening wrapped up with a magnificent 25-minute Larry Gregory Fireworks Display sponsored by the City of Buckhannon. All ages filled the streets of Buckhannon to watch the amazing fireworks show. Thanks to the City of Buckhannon, this year’s fireworks show was one of the best to date.
Everything would not have gone as well without the help from the city’s Street Department, Buckhannon Police Department, Buckhannon Fire Department, Buckhannon Volunteers In Police Service (VIPS), and everyone else who made the evening possible.
