Everett C. Butcher, 76, of Vadis, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 6, 2019, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
After sharing the last 38 years together, Mr. Butcher will be patiently waiting the arrival of his loving wife, Violet Tharp Butcher, on the banks of the Jordan.
He was born on November 6, 1942, in Wilson, NY, a son of the late William “Bud” and Betty Horner Butcher. After the passing of his brother, Robert Butcher, and sister, Linda Kelly, he remained the last living member of his immediate family. One son, Rodney Alan Butcher, and one granddaughter, Kelli Nicole Lawson, also preceded Mr. Butcher in death.
Cherishing their fond memories of Mr. Butcher are seven children: Vickie Shaver of Grantsville, Lisa Brake and husband, Chris, of Buckhannon, Dorcas Skidmore and husband, Jason, of Weston, Jason Stitt and wife, Kasha, of Auburn, Chad Butcher and wife, Crystal, of Weston, Heather Butcher of Alum Bridge, and Trevor Butcher of Lost Creek; nineteen grandchildren: Robert Stamper, Stephani Farley, Ryan Butcher, Brent Davisson, Abbie Williams, Shasta Carr, Mikelea Skidmore, Brooklyn Skidmore, Ethan Skidmore, Jailee Paige Skidmore, Kadessa Stitt, Mason Stitt, Joseph Butcher, Blake Butcher, Raelyn Heath, Avery Butcher, Cora Kelley, Silas Butcher and Brynlee Butcher; and several great-grandchildren.
Mr. Butcher worked for Everett C. Butcher several years as a mine foreman for Grafton Coal and various other coal companies. He then started his own business in electronics and introduced the satellite dish to Lewis and surrounding counties. After retirement, he enjoyed driving his Mahindra tractor around and tearing things up.
Mr. Butcher was a member of Haleville Union Mission Church and loved singing praises for his Lord with his wife, Violet. Together Mr. Butcher and Violet travelled and sang gospel music in many different churches.
Mr. Butcher’s request for cremation has been honored. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Midway Volunteer Fire Department located at 40 Gilmer Co. Fink Rd. in Alum Bridge at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, July 13, 2019
