TENNERTON — Elnora Jean Tomblyn, 88, of Buckhannon, a resident of Tennerton for 59 years passed away on Friday, Jan. 26, 2018. She was born July 27, 1929 in Cubana, Randolph County, a daughter of the late Nelson and Prentice Wolfe Poling. On June 22, 1947 Jean married Robert Tomblyn and they celebrated 55 years of marriage before his passing on March 11, 2003. She was preceded in death by a son, Gary R. Tomblyn, son-in-law, Greg Brown,two sisters, Mildred (Millie) Butcher and June Bowen and two brothers, Casper and Kermit Poling.
Jean is survived by her children, James W. Tomblyn and wife Sharon and Bruce N. Tomblyn and wife Dedorah (Dee), all of Buckhannon, Fern R. Young and husband Rick, of Walbridge, Ohio, and Karen J. Tremblay and husband Todd, of New Port Richey, Fla., daughter-in-law, Rosemary Tomblyn, of Buckhannon, and brother, Donald Poling and wife Karen of Sierra Vista, Ariz. She is survived by her 14 grandchildren, Seth, Joshua, Paula, Sarah, Jeannette, Jonas, Andrea, Erik, Travis, Joanne, Vanessa, Erin, Noah and Jeremy and 17 great-grandchildren. Also two stepgrandchildren and six stepgreat-grandchildren.
Mrs. Tomblyn was a funeral home owner in Upshur County since 1950 until the family business, the Tomblyn Whitescarver Rundio Funeral Chapel, Buckhannon, and the Alkire Funeral Chapel, Ireland, were sold in 2016 and was an co-owner of the Upshur County Memorial Park Cemetery in Tennerton. She was a member of the Tennerton United Methodist Church and the Buckhannon Chapter 18 Order of Eastern Star.
Friends and family will gather at Tomblyn-Clutter Funeral and Cremation, 21 Elnora Circle in Buckhannon from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan.31, 2018. To conclude the visitation, Buckhannon Chapter 18 Order of Eastern Star will conduct services at 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 1, 2018 from Tomblyn-Clutter Funeral and Cremation with Reverend Wease Day officiating. Interment will follow in the Upshur County Memorial Park.
