Elmer Raymond Booth


Elmer Raymond Booth, 81, died on August 21, 2022, at his lifelong home in Pickens, W.Va. He retired from the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America Union, local 436, where he recently became a 50 year member of, in which he felt very proud, honored and accomplished about.

He was born September 19, 1940 in Pickens, W.Va., a son of the late Raymond and Marie Umbright Booth. 

He was preceded in death by his late wife, Marie Booth; one sister, Hazel Marie Burky, all of Pickens, W.Va.

Surviving are two nieces, Evelyn and Linda; and three nephews, Ernest, Alvin and Herman. He is survived by one daughter, Joyce Ann Morgan and husband Rick, of Buckhannon, W.Va.; two sons: Steven Edward Booth and wife Cari, of Middleburg, Fla., as well as Matthew Raymond Booth and wife Virginia, of Buckhannon, W.Va. He had seven grandchildren (Patricia, Brittany, Katlyn, Brittany, Rachael, Ricky and Angel) and 11 great-grandchildren (Olivia, Henry, Kinsley, Addilyn, Liam, Jason, Payton, Landon, Axton, Brayzen and Bricen).

Elmer had very close friends, Sam and Donna Knotts, who meant the world to him. He was a farming enthusiast since age 9; his farm and animals were always a priority. His furry companion was a Norwegian Elkhound, Buddy, who he loved dearly. He strongly believed that hard work was everything and always said, “I was born to work and I’ll work till I die.” Even after retirement, he dedicated more time every day to farming.
