Ellamore Volunteer Fire Department hosts fifth Ride to Survive

ELLAMORE — The Ellamore Volunteer Fire Department held their 50 plus-mile ride, originally set for May, this past weekend on Saturday. Despite the impending weather, registration was flooded with participants. Beginning at the Long Run entrance in Randolph County, there were 461 people in attendance with 222 all-terrain vehicles (ATVs).

This is the fifth year Ellamore Volunteer Fire Department has hosted the ride, but they also do spring and fall rides as well. The rides/runs were started to purchase a cascade system for the department, which they were able to purchase last year. All the money raised from the rides are now being used for updates and improvements around the department itself.

“We appreciate the support from all participants. We also coordinate with the Queens Community building to use as a poker game stop on all our rides and thank them greatly for their help,” expressed an Ellamore Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary member. “They have a bake sale in order to help raise funds for their organization as well.”

Not only do the rides benefit the fire department, but it also helps local businesses in the community. Many people attend the rides from near and far – surrounding areas and out-of-state.

The next ride will be October 15, 2022. Stay updated with The Record Delta or watch the Ellamore VFD or WV Off-road Events & Benefit Rides Facebook pages.
