Elizabeth Jo “Jody” Moore

TENNERTON — Elizabeth Jo “Jody” Moore, 74, of Sandusky, Ohio and formerly of Adrian, died Sunday, Aug.19, 2018, in Sandusky, Ohio. 

She was born in Buckhannon, on Nov. 3, 1943, a daughter of the late Alfonso Maruca Jr. and Genevieve Eleanore Tenney Maruca.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Richard Moore on Nov. 8, 2015; one grandson Luke Deal, one sister Carol Jeannie Fisher and an infant brother Frank Edward.

She is survived by one daughter Tabby and husband Paul Deal, of Sandusky; two sons:  Tony Hyre, of Charleston, and Mitchell Hyre of Adrian; two grandchildren:  Jacob Deal, of Sandusky, and Mitchell Wayne Hyre, of Adrian.

Jody had previously been employed by Brown Lumber and the Upshur County EMS and had helped her mother in operating the family’s store.  She enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding four-wheelers. 

She was a member of the Adrian United Methodist Church and over the years had belonged to the Adrian Fire Department, the Upshur County EMS, the American Red Cross, NRA and the Eastern Stars. 

She also volunteered as a scout leader with Boy Scouts of America for many years with her two sons and later with Tabby in the explorer program.   Jody will be missed by her family and friends as well as her eight fur babies.  Jody and Richard had rescued eight cats that she continued to care for after Richard’s death.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, Aug. 23, 2018, from 4-7 p.m. at the Heavner & Cutright Funeral Chapel.  Funeral services will be held on Friday, Aug. 24, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the funeral chapel with Rev. Robert F. Heavner officiating  Interment will follow in the French Creek Memorial Gardens.
