Donathan joins Webster Memorial Team

WEBSTER SPRINGS — Webster Memorial Hospital (WMH) is happy to welcome Dr. Chelsea Donathan to the emergency department medical staff.

Dr. Donathan earned her medical degree from Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine in Dothan, AL. She completed the Emergency Medicine Residency Program at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville, NC, and prior to that participated in an internship at Betsy Regional Hospital in Dunn, NC.

Dr. Donathan explained that as a physician, she is drawn to the “sense of community” and helping patients reestablish social connections through healing.

“Helping patients is more than medicine. It’s a holistic approach to understanding and caring for all the needs of the individual,” said Dr. Donathan.

Donathan’s love of outdoor activities is what brought her and husband Dr. Rhett Donathan to the area.

“During our residencies in North Carolina we would take weekend road trips. We came to West Virginia and fell in love,” she said. “It quickly became one of our favorite places.”

“Dr. Donathan is a great addition to our emergency department team,” said WMH CEO Bill Dempsey.  “She came from a Level II Trauma Center where the pace and patient acuity levels are quite different. Her knowledge and experience in emergency medicine is advancing the care we provide.”

Dr. Donathan is a member of the American College of Emergency Physicians and the Emergency medical Residents’ Association. Her certifications and licenses include the West Virginia Board of Osteopathic medicine, Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
