BUCKHANNON — United Way of Gilmer, Lewis & Upshur held their third annual Dine and Donate fundraiser at Buffalo Wild Wings Wednesday evening. Those who participated could contribute 15 percent of their bill by dining in or carrying out orders from 5 to 8 p.m.

The United Way’s yearly goal is to raise $75,000 before March 31, which benefits a host of local charities and organizations throughout Gilmer, Lewis and Upshur counties. They currently stand at over 71 percent of the annual goal.

“We’re trying to engage the community a lot more, which can be hard during COVID times. We’re trying to do a lot more virtual, but we’re hanging in there. We’re making the best of every situation we can,” explained UW Chairperson Kari Park, who is also the reigning Mrs. West Virginia.

Also coming up, they are planning for the second annual Little Miss Live United Pageant and holding a virtual raffle. Their Winter Raffle will be held over Facebook live on December 1 at 6 p.m. The first prize is the Christmas package, including a snowman family, glass candle holders, a five-foot Christmas tree and a Red Woods platter. The second prize is Capresso Infinity Conical Burr Grinder and pack of two Table Mates. The third prize is a 26-piece Evercraft screwdriver set with a storage rack and gel seat cushion. Tickets can be purchased at https://www.lcunitedway.net/events for $5 per ticket or $20 for 5. Payments may also be mailed to UW of Gilmer, Lewis and Upshur at PO Box 44, Weston, WV 26452.
