TENNERTON — Last weekend on Saturday, August 9 the Diamond Dream 14-and-under softball team coached by Billy Beachler, David and Danny Marple and Levi Abel put together one of the most thoroughly dominant performances in recent memory as they shutout the Intensity Outlawz by a final score of 12 to 0.
The Diamond Dreams enjoyed a dream start to the game, scoring ten runs in just the first inning of play, ending the game essentially before it began. The Diamond Dream 14-and-under team extended their, already commanding, 10 to 0 lead by scoring a single run in both the second and the third innings as they coasted to the 12 to 0 shutout win. The Diamond Dream 14-and-under team enjoyed a near flawless day on both sides of the ball. Offensively, as a team the Diamond Dreamers racked up 8 hits, 12 runs and 9 RBIs, as 8 different batters managed to drive in RBIs on the day. An astounding 11 of the 12 players in the Diamond Dream hitting lineup crossed home plate and scored. Diamond Dream’s Reese Curry and Ava Shaffer led the way in terms of hits, with both players going 2 for 3 at the plate. Curry scored a run and drove in a pair of RBIs, while Shaffer scored a run and drove in an RBI, as the two teamed to form the backbone of the Diamond Dream hitting lineup. Defensively, young ace Kynnedy Marple pitched a complete game, only allowing 2 hits and 1 walk, while striking out a pair of Outlaw batters.
The win over the Intensity Outlawz on Saturday moved the Diamond Dream 14-and-under team to 16-19 overall during their 2022 Summer season. The Diamond Dreamers will be back in action this weekend with three games, starting off with a match-up with the Queen Bees 14-and-under team.
