Diamond Dream 14-U picks up shutout win against W.Va. Eliminators

Baylee Beachler winds up for a pitch during the home game on Friday

TENNERTON — This past Friday, August 5, coaches Billy Beachler, Danny Marple, Levi Abel and their Diamond Dream 14-and-under team picked up a huge home shutout victory against the W.Va. Eliminators by a final score of 12 to 0.

With pitcher Baylee Beachler on the mound, the Eliminators could not get anything going offensively. The righty only allowed a single hit over the course of a complete five inning game. Beachler sat down ten Eliminator batters, while only walking one earning the shutout win. The dominant outing from Beachler was complemented by a great night in the field for the Diamond Dream girls, as they played mistake-free softball, not committing a single error all game. Katelyn Cooper had the most chances in the field, finishing the game with ten, the most on the team.

The Diamond Dream 14-and-under hitting lineup has no trouble with the Eliminators pitching staff, racking up 12 total hits in the game as a team. Big second and fifth inning runs helped seal the deal for the Diamond Dreamers, scoring 11 of their 12 runs over the course of those two innings. Ava Shaffer, Reese Curry, Hailey Riffle and Beachler each recorded multiple hit days for Diamond Dream 14-under team. Out of this pack of powerful bats, Shaffer led the way with a perfect 3 for 3 mark from the plate.
