Detained for driving revoked crash

BUCKHANNON — A local man remains jailed after he allegedly wrecked his grandmother’s car and fled the scene to evade arrest.

Daniel Travis Dunlavy, age 30, was charged with felony third offense driving revoked and the misdemeanor offense of leaving the scene of an accident with property damage. According to the criminal complaint, WV State Police TFC P.J. Robinette responded to a crash at Stony Run Road on March 13 and found a black Ford Edge in the ditch.

During the course of the investigation, the officer said Dunlavy admitted to falling asleep and wrecking his grandmother’s car, but “did not remain on scene out of fear of being arrested due to his driver’s license status.” The officer discovered that Dunlavy’s driver’s license is currently revoked and found two prior convictions for driving revoked DUI in 2019. The accused also reportedly had an existing Lewis County capias and is being held on a $2,500 bailpiece.

Dunlavy remains incarcerated at Tygart Valley Regional Jail on an additional $5,300 combined cash only bond for the Upshur County charges set by Magistrate Alan Suder.
