Debra Ann Rhoades

JANE LEW — Debra Ann Rhoades, 62, of Buckhannon, formerly of Weston, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 17, 2017 in St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon following an extended illness.
She was born in Rochester, Pa. on March 31, 1955 a daughter of the late Robert Glenn Savage and Norma Lucille Lantz Savage. On Oct. 9, 1976 she married Stewart J. Rhoades of Weston and they celebrated several years of marriage before divorcing and remaining friends.
Her strong, compassionate nature will be carried on by her two sons: Chad Rhoades and wife, Mistey, of Weston, and Ryan Rhoades and wife, Franki, of Rivesville; three granddaughters who will dearly miss their Nana: Megan, Lennon and McKenna Rhoades; two siblings: Larry Savage and wife, Cass, of Philadelphia, Pa., and Sandy Urbano and husband, Perry, of Los Angeles, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.
Debbie graduated from Fairmont State University with her nursing degree and spent her career caring for the mentally ill, mostly while employed at Wm. R. Sharpe Jr. Hospital in Weston. While growing up in the Pittsburgh area, she became an avid Steelers fan and enjoyed watching their games, as well as the WVU Mountaineers, and playing Fantasy Football. She was a voracious reader who had an extensive collection of completed books in her library.  Her love and dedication for reading was only matched by her love and compassion for animals, and she had a special place in her heart for cats.
Debbie’s request for cremation has been honored. Friends and family will gather at the Pat Boyle Funeral Home and Cremation Service at 144 Hackers Creek Rd. in Jane Lew from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 28, 2017. In lieu of flowers donations may be made at the funeral home to assist the family with final expenses. In memory of Debbie’s love for animals, any excess donations will be made to the Lewis-Upshur Animal Control Facility 318 Mud Lick Rd. Buckhannon, WV 26201.
The Pat Boyle Funeral Home and Cremation Service is honored and privileged to serve the family of Debra Ann Rhoades. Online condolences may be expressed at
