BUCKHANNON- Have you ever wanted to enjoy the annual Cherry Blossom Festival and Parade, as well as spend the day touring Washington D.C.? Now is your chance to see the nation’s capital during the peak of the cherry blossom bloom, while also helping give back to Upshur County.

Animal Outreach Project is planning a Washington DC bus-trip fundraiser to help raise money for the non-profit. The trip is planned for Saturday, April 13 and will include a grandstand seating ticket to the festival parade.

The total cost for this one day trip is $125 with a $50 non-refundable deposit due at booking. Payments can be made and the full payment is due by March 1. The bus will leave at 4 a.m. on April 13, and will return the same day around 9:30 p.m.

Samantha Athchison, director of the Animal Outreach Project and trip coordinator, said this is always the biggest fundraiser the organization does every year and proceeds from the trip go towards the cost of vetting animals in Upshur County.

In 2018 the Animal Outreach Project help provide the funding for 319 animal surgeries which included 117 cat spays, 69 cat neuters, 80 dog spays and 53 dog neuters. The total amount paid by the group last year for these surgeries, and other vetting, was $23,147.

To reserve a spot for the DC trip, or to make a tax deductible donation, please contact the group on Facebook at Animal Outreach Project, Inc, or by visiting www.aopwv.org.
