PHILIPPI — The Philip Barbour Colts hosted Buckhannon-Upshur High School in Philippi Friday, September 10. The Buccaneers and new Head Coach Zach Davis came out with a big win after an impressive play in the last nine seconds of the game sealed the deal for B-UHS.

The Colts scored first with a 35-yard field goal by Grant Dadisman at the end of the first quarter. The Buccaneers then scored their first touchdown, played by Ian Donnen, secured by Cameron Zuliani’s kick for a 7-3 lead.

Savion Farmer then ran a 77-yard touchdown with only four and a half minutes left in the first half. Zuliani’s kick was good, sending the Bucs into the start of the second half leading with a 14-10 score.

Farmer made another touchdown into the end zone on a 9-yard run. Zuliani once again showed consistency on her kicks for a score of 20-10 with the Bucs still in the lead.

Philip Barbour’s DeShawn Webster ran the field throughout plays for 68 yards for a 20-16 score. After a penalty on the Colts’ end, they threw out the decision for a two-point conversion and went for the one-point kick. Unfortunately, the kick was no good, leaving the score at 20-16.

With only nine seconds left in the fourth quarter, Bryson Johnston intercepted the football in the end zone for a 99-yard rush for the game-winning touchdown.

The Buckhannon-Upshur Buccaneers will play Greenbrier East at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, September 17, 2021.
