David “Dave” Irven Cutlip, 66, of Weston passed away peacefully on Wed., April 10, 2019, from the comfort of his home, with loving family and under the compassionate care of WVU Hospice.
John Irven and Marian Hope Ware Cutlip welcomed David into their family on January 14, 1953 in Buckhannon.
On December 8, 1989, Dave married Charlotte Ann Prince Cutlip and they were blessed with 30 years of marriage.
Along with Charlotte, those left to remember Dave’s smile and ornery ways are his sons: James L. Myers and wife, Dennise, of Lockport, IL, and John F. Myers and wife, Holly, of Henderson, NV; six grandchildren: Cammorron, Nathaniel, Shayna, Hope, Riley and Teagan Meyers; sister, Betty Fisher and husband, Neal, of Hobbs, NM; three nieces: Tanya Fisher, Michelle Tanner and Alyssa Tramell; and sister-in-law, Jan Cutlip of Diana, WV.
Dave has been joyfully reunited with his parents; brother, Robert Cutlip; niece, Allison Moats; and his beloved beagle, Bitsy.
He grew up in beautiful Webster County where he graduated from Webster Springs High School in 1971. He finished his education at James Rumsey Technical School where he graduated in Auto Mechanics. Dave put his skills to good use as a mechanic for District 7 WV DOH. After 28 years of service he retired in 2008 as Shop Foreman.
Dave was a Christian by faith and was baptized in the Hacker Valley United Methodist Church. His faithful heart led him into the service of others as a 35-year member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #4357 of which he was a past State President. He also served others as a support member of Pricetown Fire Department and as a member of the Lewis County Emergency Squad.
From his father, Dave learned to be a talented carpenter and enjoyed woodworking. He was an avid NASCAR Fan and deer hunter.
Dave’s request for cremation has been honored. Family and friends will gather at the Pat Boyle Funeral Home and Cremation Service located at 144 Hackers Creek Rd. in Jane Lew from 3-4 p.m. on Sat., April 13, 2019. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday in the Pat Boyle Funeral Chapel with Pastor Dwayne Brown officiating.
