Danny Lee Chewning, age 76, of Buckhannon, W. Va., died Thursday, May 12, 2022, at the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center in Clarksburg, W. Va. He was born February 24, 1946, in Buckhannon, a son of the late Lloyal Chewning and Mary Elizabeth Tenney Veith.
In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his grandparents Waitman and Mary Tenney, who raised him.
On May 26, 1978, he married Barbara Lantz who survives. He is also survived by one son Donald Chewning and wife Annette, of Camp Hill, Pa.; one daughter Nicolette Riley and husband George, of Buckhannon; six grandchildren: Brianna and Thomas Cotlin, both of Camp Hill, Bailey Chewning and McKenna Radcliff, both of Buckhannon; Katy Knight, of Horner, W. Va., and Garrett Riley, of Parkersburg, W. Va.; one sister Sandra Payne and husband Mason, of Volga, W. Va.; sister-in-law Carla Reger and husband Bryan, of Volga; and two special cousins: Mike Tenney, of Edgewater, Fla., and Gene Collins, of Burton, Ohio.
Danny was a coal miner. He loved old cars, fishing, and gardening.
