BUCKHANNON — The Central West Virginia Republican Women (CWVRW) gathered to show their appreciation and support for local law enforcement and first responders last Thursday. The group delivered 38 lunches to the Buckhannon City Police Department, Upshur County Sheriff’s Department, West Virginia State Police and the Buckhannon Volunteer Fire Department.
“The Republican Women and Associate Members wanted the local law enforcement to know that we support, honor and respect them,” CWVRW President Jeani Hawkins explained. Hawkins further stated, “We are also appreciative of Delegate Robbie Martin for the many ways he shows support.”
Lasagna and salad were prepared by the 88 Restaurant and owner Robbie Martin donated the meals. When Martin discovered the meals were for local law enforcement and first responders, he reportedly told Hawkins that he wanted to donate them. “I think it’s a great cause… We don’t get to thank our first responders enough, so this is something small we can do to say thank you for what you do in our community.”
If anyone is interested in joining the CWVRW, they can contract Brenda Hosaflook-Wells at (304) 641-1418 or any current member. The next meeting of the CWVRW will be held at the Bi-Centennial Inn Conference Room on the fourth Monday of July.
