Cross country Lady Bucs victorious at Paw Paw Invitational

Mia Sappey of the Buckhannon-Upshur Lady Bucs ran second at the Paw Paw Invitational this past Thursday. She posted a time of 28:14.41.

PAW PAW – The Buckhannon-Upshur cross country Lady Bucs had a detour in their schedule as they were slated to run today in the St. Mary’s Festival, but a change of time in that event led the Lady Bucs to back out and instead run in the two-team Paw Paw Invitational Thursday.

The Lady Bucs and South Harrison met in a rare dual outing in cross country after several teams canceled with B-U downing South Harrison by a 24-34 score.

Madison Stonestreet of South Harrison was the top runner with a time of 25:27.65.

Buckhannon-Upshur took the next two spots as Mia Sappey was second with a time of 28:14.41 and Miah Reger was third with a time of 30:00.22.

Dakota James of South Harrison was fourth with a clocking of 30:03.97 and B-U’s Alayna Whitehair was fifth with a time of 30:12.20.

The rest of the B-U line-up was Jessica Williams running sixth (31:56.53), Pressley Bowers taking eighth (33.29.62), Malia Bowers running ninth (34:40.38), Harley Gillum taking 11th (36.59.39), Madelyn Frye placing 13th (42.46.72.), Haley White taking 14th (43.13.47) and Ryanna Hines placing 15th (47.38.47).

The Lady Bucs are scheduled to run again next Saturday at the Mt. State Forest Festival at Davis & Elkins College.
