Cross-country Lady Bucs run fourth at Preston


KINGWOOD – The Buckhannon-Upshur Lady Buc cross-country A-team ran in fourth place at the 2020 Preston Knight Night Relays.

The foursome of Cadence Vincent, Malia Bowers, Jessica Williams and Miah Reger ran a combined time of 42:35.5.

Vincent ran a time of 9:44.5, Bowers an 11:41.4, Williams a 10:37.1 and Reger a 10:32.5.

Vincent’s time landed her in third place overall in the split rankings.

Abby Nolan of Preston has the quickest relay time of 9:25.5 while her teammate, Allie Martin, took second with a time of 9:37.4.

The meet is set up where teams of four run 1.5 miles in a relay-style meet under the moonlight with tiki torches and other light sources set up for the run.

The Buckhannon B-team ran 14th with a time of 57:17.0.

They consisted of Madelyn Frye (13:20.3), Ryanna Hines (15:23.6), Leah Crihfield (15:35.0) and Brianna Dalton (12:58.2).

Preston’s B-team won the overall event with a time of 40:48 while Preston’s A-team finished second with a time of 41:17.8.

The Lady Bucs are tentatively scheduled to run today at the Doddridge County Invitational.
