Cross-country Lady Bobcats run 19th at Atlantic Regionals


PITTSBURGH – The West Virginia Wesleyan Lady Bobcat cross country wrapped up their season Saturday in the NCAA Division II Atlantic Region Championships at Schenley Park hosted by Slippery Rock University.

The Lady Bobcats finished 19th out of 22 teams with 494 points.

Edinboro won the regional championship with 64 points while California (Pa.) took runner-up honors with 87.

Rounding out the top five were Shippensburg in third with 96, Seton Hill in fourth with 151 and Kutztown in fifth with 169.

The top Mountain East Conference team was Concord who placed 15th.

California (Pa.) took the top two spots as Alicia Belko won the 6,000-meter race with a time of 23.24.4 while teammate Alsyon Pierce took second with a clocking of 24:02.2

Edinboro’s Hope Peitrocarlo took third with a clocking of 24:05.5, Bloomsburg’s Morgan Ilgenfrtiz was fourth with a time of 24:10.7 and Edinboro’s Abbey Lang was fifth with a time of 24:23.6.

The top Lady Bobcat runner was Madison Frame who ran 61st with a time of 27:06.0.

The rest of the Lady Bobcat line-up was Tori Carr in 86th (27.51.9), Rachael Englund (28:37.6), Alexis Imperial in 123rd (29.27.5), Lauren Chickosky in 124th (29:28.6), Brooke Phelps in 142nd (31:55.0) and Brittanie Greene in 147th (32.57.3).

The Division II Championships will be held Dec. 1 and hosted by Slippery Rock.
