Circuit Court holds pretrial hearings


BUCKHANNON — Upshur County Circuit Court convened on Thursday, March 12 for pretrial hearings, in which only two defendants entered guilty pleas to their charges. 

Bradley Adam Bonner, age 28, was indicted September 10, 2019 for the felony charges of grand larceny and breaking and entering a building other than a dwelling. Bonner entered a guilty plea for grand larceny and will face a possible sentence of 1-10 years in prison. He was released on continued bond until sentencing set for April 30, 2020 at 9:15 a.m.

Billy Joe Keyser, age 35, was indicted on September 10, 2019. He pled guilty to the felony offense of driving while license revoked for DUI, third or subsequent offense, from the indictment. He also pled to another charge of the same offense from January 28, 2020.  Keyser’s possible sentences include 2-6 years in the penitentiary and a $3,000- $5,000 fine. He was returned to Tygart Valley Regional Jail until his sentencing on April 30, 2020 at 9:30 a.m.

The defendants listed below also appeared in court with counsel but asked for a continuance until the next pretrial hearings. 

Charliena Jane Helmick-Gilmore was indicted in January 2020 for the felony charge of embezzlement. She was released on continued bond until her pretrial on July 1, 2020 at 2 p.m. 

Jamie Lynn Pugh was indicted in January for the felony offense of first degree arson. He was released on continued bond until his pretrial on July 1, 2020 at 2 p.m. 

William David Brown, age 44, was indicted in May 2019 for felony charges of fraudulency and three counts of embezzlement by misuse of fiduciary relationship.  He was returned to Tygart Valley Regional Jail until his pretrial on July 7, 2020 at 9 a.m. 

Bobby Lyn Todd, age 26, was indicted in May 2019 for the felony offense of displaying obscene matter to a minor. He was released on continued bond until his pretrial until July 1, 2020 at 2 p.m. 

Julia Ray Canter, age 28, was indicted in September 2019 for the felony charges of conspiracy, two counts of breaking and entering a building other than a dwelling, and grand larceny. She was released on continued bond until her pretrial on July 1, 2020 at 2 p.m.

Jonathan William Dean was indicted in January for the felony offenses of burglary and fraudulent use of an access device. He was returned to Tygart Valley Regional Jail until his pretrial on July 7, 2020 at 9 a.m.
