It might not seem like the holiday season right now, but the Buckhannon-Upshur Christmas Store is ready to celebrate with its annual elimination dinner set for April 27, from 5 to 7 p.m. and later at the Buckhannon Moose Lodge.
The evening will offer entertainment to all in attendance with live music from the Soda Pop Gypsies. Social hour is from 5 to 6 p.m. Dinner begins at 6 p.m.
There is a $1,000 grand prize. The winner does not have to be present to win. Tickets are $25.
This non-profit organization was organized in 1989, and since then has helped serve limited income families who wish to provide their children with gifts for Christmas. Howes said the Christmas Store is run by volunteers who work year-round, and just last year they “served over 400 families and around 1,000 kids, in only four days.”
The organization is funded entirely on donations and fundraisers.
Tickets are available at the door.
