Charles Lafayette Dean

Charles Lafayette Dean, age 85, of Port St. Lucie, Fla., died March 25, 2021. He was born January 28, 1936, in Buckhannon, son of Oran and Hilton (Westfall) Dean.

He married Shirley (Hawkins), who preceded him in death in 2009.

He is survived by daughters: Donna Fay Rea, of Lake Worth, Fla., Deena Kay Dean, of Ft. Pierce, Fla. and Debra Ray Friedman, of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; son, Gerald Dean, of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Margaret Miller, of Buckhannon, and brothers: Harold Dean of Taylors, SC and Donald D. Dean, of Buckhannon.

Charlie attended Upshur County public schools and graduated from West Virginia Wesleyan College. He served as a photographer in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

He has lived in Florida since 1968, retiring from Visual Graphics Corp. in 1999. He loved to play piano, was an avid golfer, and loved fishing with his grandsons. His Christian faith in God was unwavering.

Celebration of Life and Committal with military honors will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Ft. Pierce, Fla., on April 17, 2021.
