FRENCH CREEK — A French Creek man remains in jail following a Friday night couple’s quarrel over a chicken pot pie.
Christopher Charles Simons, age 45, stands accused of domestic battery after a verbal argument escalated with his live-in girlfriend. According to the criminal complaint, Simons admitted to Trooper J.S. Tonkin that he “grabbed her by the hair.”
The victim allegedly told the officer they were “arguing over a chicken pot pie,” then confirmed that Simons grabbed her by the hair.
The accused remains at Tygart Valley Regional Jail in lieu of a $5,000 bond set by Magistrate Kay Hurst. Simons is prohibited from having any contact with the victim and will be subject to random drug and alcohol testing upon release.
If convicted of misdemeanor domestic battery, Simons faces not more than 12 months confinement in jail and/or a fine of not more than $500.
