CCWV hosts Mental Health Awareness event

BUCKHANNON — Multiple organizations joined with Community Care of West Virginia to offer mental health resources at Jawbone Park Thursday evening.

On October 14, CCWV sponsored a Recovery & Mental Health Awareness Day at Jawbone Park where specialized organizations were on site to hand out information and resources focused on risk factors, symptoms, prevention, and treatment of mental health issues.

Mental health and recovery are subjects not often talked about because of the stigma surrounding them. “If we take the time to learn about risk factors and treatment options, people can help break the stigma associated with mental health issues and can help encourage people in need of services to reach out for help,” said Judith Utley, one of the event’s coordinators.

If you or anyone you know is struggling with mental health or recovery and is looking for help, break the stigma and contact a local provider to find the best resources for each individual.
