ALLIANCE (Ohio) – The West Virginia Wesleyan golf team opened up their 2021 spring schedule with a showing in the four-team, two-day Malone Spring Classic held at the Tannernhauf Golf Club this past Friday and Saturday.
Wesleyan finished fourth out of the four teams with a two-day total of 650.
Malone won their own event with a 595 while West Liberty was second with a 614 and Lake Erie was third with a 620.
Malone’s Connor Curry won the individual title with a 143.
Malone’s Dylan Kaufman and West Liberty’s Howard Peterson IV both took runner-up honors with a 150.
Colin Chapman was Wesleyan’s best golfer during the event finishing 13th with a 155, shooting a 77 on day one and a 78 on day two.
Scoring for Wesleyan was Zach Chapman taking 17th with a 158 while Don Morgret was 23rd with a 162 and Rigel Wilson was 29th with a 169.
The rest of the Wesleyan line-up was Matt Allen was 31st (175), Ciah Kennedy in 34th (179), Kyle Raciak in 35th (180) and Gavin Wilson (36th) 182.
The ‘Cats will be back in action Friday at the Mister Bee Intercollegiate Golf Tournament at the Green Hill CC at Ravenswood hosted by Ohio Valley.
