BUCKHANNON — Carol Ann McAfee, 70, of Buckhannon, passed away on May 1, 2017 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. Carol had battled congestive heart failure for nearly two years and that combined with a car accident on April 3, 2017 became too much for her.
Carol was born on Jan. 8, 1947 in Erie, Pa. A graduate of Strong Vincent High School, she lived in Erie until moving to West Virginia in 1984. She was the only child of Arvin and Helen Alho who preceded her in death as did her husband Nicola McAfee who died in December of 1985.
She is survived by her children: Matthew Kerner, Jason Kerner and Nicholas McAfee, all of Buckhannon. Also left behind were her three favorite people in the world: her grandchildren Kathryn Kerner, of Shinnston; Abigail and Patrick McAfee, both of Buckhannon. Carol also leaves behind several close friends including Christina Romine and Laura Foulks.
There will be a public celebration of her life on Saturday, May 13, 2017 from noon until approximately 2 p.m. at the Opportunity House, Inc. Recovery Center located at 47 Cleveland Ave. in Buckhannon. Cremation services were provided by Heritage Cremation Providers. Interment of her ashes with her husband Nicola McAfee will be done privately at a later date.
