Bykofsky jailed after domestic incident

BUCKHANNON — Buckhannon resident Shaw Thomas Bykofsky, age 58, was arrested and charged with domestic battery following an incident on Island Avenue on Sunday, December 19.

Upshur County Comms Center received a call regarding a dispute in a vehicle on Island Avenue, who then dispatched Buckhannon Police Department’s Sergeant Tom Posey and Officer Jacob Garrison.

According to the criminal complaint, the officers arrived at the vehicle and spoke to the victim, later identified as Shirley Tinney. The victim stated that after a disagreement, her boyfriend, later identified as Bykofsky, grabbed her by the hair and pulled out a hair piece that was attached to the victims head.

As stated in the complaint, the defendant took the keys to the vehicle, while the evidence, or hairpiece, was still lying in the backseat. Upon separation, the officers were able to place Bykofsky under arrest.

Bykofsky posted a $1,500 cash or surety bond from Tygart Valley Regional Jail by press time Monday evening.
