Bucs to host old rival Elkins this evening

TENNERTON — The Buckhannon-Upshur High School boys basketball team will renew their rivalry with visiting Elkins at 7:30 p.m. this evening in a Big 10 Conference encounter.

The Bucs of first-year head coach Travis Foster enter the contest 4-11 after dropping a  tough 51-47 setback at John Marshall on Saturday.

Sophomore forward Brayden Cutlip had a career-high 24 points and eight rebounds in the contest.

The Bucs also look for scoring from seniors Drew Heatherly, Taylor Whitehair and Holden Edwards, along with sophomores Greyson Shepherd and Dawson Lilly.

Edwards had nine rebounds in the loss to the Monarchs. Heatherly added five points and dished out four assists.

The Tigers are 8-8 on the season after falling at Petersburg, 61-59, on Saturday.

Ean Winans had 20 points in the setback, while Elliot White added 17.

The Bucs are scheduled to hit the road at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Preston for their next game after tonight’s contest, before hosting Class AA, No. 1 and defending state champion Fairmont Senior on Tuesday for a pair of Big 10 contests.
