Bucs golf leads by 30 points

CLARKSBURG — Buckhannon-Upshur High School’s golf team dominated in the Saturday, September 11 match held at Sonny Croft Golf Course located in Clarksburg.

Coach Jason Westfall and team showed support for the 20th Anniversary of 9/11. “We are proud of the freedom we have, and the sacrifices made by so many. Playing golf on 9/11 was special for us. It was a beautiful day to win and be able to honor the day,” Westfall expressed.

The Bucs won with a 30-point lead and finished with a 125 score against Robert C. Byrd, who finished with a score of 155.

Aside from a tie for fifth, the entire Individual Top 5 were B-UHS players. Evan Coffman won his seventh medal and took the lead once again with a 40 score, followed closely behind by his fellow teammate Isaac Lane who scored a 41.

Coach Westfall stated that Hitt is a steady go and the best recovery shot maker the Bucs have on the team. This win runs the B-UHS golf record to 36 – 7 overall and 20 – 1 in the conference. The team prepares their practice to focus on the conference tournament that will take place the third week of September.
