Bucs bow to Tribe in finale

BRIDGEPORT — The Buckhannon-Upshur boys basketball team concluded regular-season play in an 80-44 setback to Bridgeport on Monday night.

The Bucs of first-year head coach Travis Foster are now 6-15 overall and 5-9 in Big 10 Conference play. They will begin sectional play next week.

The Indians (14-6, 11-4 Big 10) built a 15-point lead, at 20-5, after one quarter and carried a 42-16 advantage into the intermission.

Bridgeport held a 17-16 scoring edge in the third quarter and a 21-12 edge in the final canto.

Jacob Loudin came off the bench to score nine points for B-U, which shot just 21.6 percent from the floor on 16-of-61 of shooting.

Sophomore forward Brayden Cutlip added seven points and 14 rebounds, senior Holden Edwards  chipped in seven points and Taylor Whitehair two assists.

Tanner Bifano led Bridgeport with 17 points, while Brayden Lesher scored 16 points and dished out four assists.

The Indians hit 56.9 percent of their field goals.
