BUCKHANNON – Professional boxer and Buckhannon resident Dakota “Lone Wolf” Linger will appear on the ESPN 2 Network this Thursday, Oct. 4 in a Super Lightweight (140lb) fight against Danielito Zorrilla.
Linger, a 2014 graduate of Buckhannon-Upshur High School, will enter the fight with a 10-0-2 record.
The bout is scheduled for eight rounds and will be the “Co-Featured” fight of the night.
Linger’s opponent hails from Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico and has a perfect 8-0 fight record.
Linger got his start in boxing in 2013 when he entered and won the Elkins Toughman Contest in the Lightweight Division.
He entered and won the event again in 2014.
The 23-year-old Linger had his first professional fight in March of 2015 when he won by TKO over Charles Dunford in Elkins.
His last fight was a win over Marklin Bailey in Wheeling back of March of this year.
“This is a major opportunity for Dakota and if successful, which we believe he will be, this will really help launch his career,” remarked Linger’s promoter, Jerry Thomas, President of West Virginia Sports Promotions.
Linger trains at the Tommy Thomas Boxing Club in Clarksburg. He is being trained by Tim Wheeler and his father Dewaine Linger.
The fight will take place in Costa Mesa, Calif. at the Hangar at the Orange County Fair & Event Center and is being promoted by Golden Boy Promotions.
