TENNERTON – The Buckhannon-Upshur Buccaneer and Lady Buc cross country teams will get their season under Saturday when they compete in the Preston Knight Relays at 8:30 p.m.
Veteran head coach Jim Johnson is back to coach both teams again this season while Roseanne Siggia-Walker will be Johnson’s new assistant coach after long-time assistant Pam Martin retired.
The turnout was solid for both teams this year with 15 boys and 13 girls coming out for the team.
The boy’s roster shows 11 returnees while the girls have five returnees.
The boys team will be comprised of seniors Nathaniel Beer, Ethan Cutright, Tanner Hardman, Cory Hamner and Samuel Walker, juniors Julius Hobbs, Phillip Setterland, Garrett Summers and L.J. Wyatt, sophomores Dylan Cornett, Harrison Walker and Logan Wyatt, and freshmen Brycen Allen and Jordan Gillum.
The Lady Bucs will have on their roster seniors Adrianna Cutright, Molly Fox, Kassidy Wilfong and Jenny Williams, juniors Emily Adams (manager), Kellie Casto, Leah Crihfield, sophomore Ryanna Hines and freshmen Madelyn Frye, Cadence Vincent, Alayna Whitehair and Jessica Williams.
Following their opener at Kingwood, both teams will compete at University High on Tuesday at 4:30 pm.
