MORGANTOWN – A recap of the first-half of the Buckhannon-Upshur boy’s lacrosse season.

The Bucs opened their season with a 15-3 road loss to Putnam County as Trapper Samples had all three goals for the Bucs.

The Bucs then made the long trek to Martinsburg and dropped a 16-1 decision with Samples getting the lone goal of the game.

They recorded their first win of the season at Kingwood against the Preston Knights.

The Bucs won the outing by a 7-4 score with Clay Ware getting four goals, Samples two and Nathan Smith one.

The Bucs held a slim 3-2 lead going into the final quarter but tallied four goals in that quarter to pull away with the three-goal win.

John Hayes made 15 saves in net for the Bucs.

They followed that up with a 16-1 road defeat to Morgantown with Luke Bohnsack getting the lone Buckhannon-Upshur goal.

The Bucs will visit Musselman Saturday at 1 p.m. in a Class II regional tournament game.
