Buckhannon-Upshur athletics resume as county moves green

TENNERTON – With Upshur County returning to the green on the COVID-19 pandemic map, sports will return this week for Buckhannon-Upshur athletes.

Contests resumed yesterday with a full slate of games.

The Bucs and Lady Bucs competed in their sectional tournament openers while volleyball returned to action at Philip Barbour in a tri-match with the Colts and North Marion.

It was the first games played in over three weeks as the county spent that time orange on the color-coded maps.

Volleyball will have a busy week as they return to action today visiting Lewis County and then will host Elkins and Robert C. Byrd in a home tri-match Wednesday and will entertain Gilmer County Thursday.

If the soccer teams were victorious yesterday, they will play in their sectional championships Wednesday evening.

The football team will also return to action Thursday for the first time in a month as they will play Preston at University High School for a 7 p.m. kick-off.

The middle school will not have any more fall competitions as the three weeks off wiped out the remainder of their October schedules.
