Buckhannon man jailed for third offense DUI

BUCKHANNON — Bryce Lynn Chapman, age 34 of Buckhannon, was taken into custody on Friday, September 2. Chapman was arrested and charged with Driving While License Revoked-DUI third offense.

The criminal complaint revealed that on Friday, September 2, Upshur County Sherriff’s Deputy Tanner Collins spotted a dark colored motorcycle pull onto Route 33 East at approximately 10:43 p.m. Furthermore, the complaint revealed that the motorcycle did not have a license plate but did say “lost” where the plate should be.

At this point Deputy Collins initiated a traffic stop just past Kesling Mill on the eastbound side of Route 33. As Deputy Collins exited his vehicle, the driver of the motorcycle immediately put his head down on the motorcycle. Deputy Collins then ordered the driver off the motorcycle and when he took his helmet off was identified as Bryce Lynn Chapman from previous encounters.

Chapman advised Deputy Collins that he did not have a valid license as it had been revoked secondary to a previous Driving Under the Influence charge. Deputy Collins then confirmed the information with the Upshur County Communications Center. Chapman was then placed under arrest for Driving While License Revoked third offense and transported to Tygart Valley Regional Jail.

Court records noted that Chapman’s previous convictions for Driving While License Revoked for Driving Under the Influence include dates of Friday, October 23, 2015 and Thursday, September 23, 2021.

Chapman remains incarcerated at Tygart Valley Regional Jail on a $10,000 cash only bond.
