Buckhannon man jailed after escaping custody

BUCKHANNON — A local man is facing a new felony charge along with a large cash-only bond after intentionally escaping from custody earlier this year.

According to the criminal complaint filed by Buckhannon Police Sergeant Rodney Rolenson, on Sunday, June 26, the defendant, 32-year-old Daniel Travis Dunlavy, unlawfully and intentionally escaped from home confinement in Upshur County. It was reported within the court documents that Dunlavy left his approved residence without permission and allowed his bracelet to expire, which ultimately stopped the court mandated GPS monitoring.

The defendant was placed on home confinement for a period of one to three years for Driving Revoked for third offense Driving Under the Influence. Numerous attempts were previously made to locate the defendant. Dunlavy was later located and booked on Saturday, September 10. Dunlavy is currently being held at Central Regional Jail on a $10,000 cash only bond.
